10 Filipino Words That You Never Thought Existed

Philippines is one of the many countries that is really being admired by the people because of how rich and creative is its words in the Filipino language. Even though the Philippines has different languages based on their regions or provinces, Filipino will still be its national language and it is actually growing because as time goes by, it can also adapt to the changes being made around the world, year by year.
There are many Filipino words that are easy to mention and to remember just like the word "talon" which means jump, and "mabait" which means good, but did you know that there are actually Filipino words that are hard to understand and to remember.
Words like Dalisay, Marahuyo and Indak are not even recognized by other Filipinos including me, but do not worry because sometimes, we can be strangers even to our own language. Here is a video that I made to give you some Filipino words to start with and I hope that you enjoy it.

Here Are 10 Uncommonly Used Filipino Words
Alpas
English translation: Escape or Release
Definition: (verb) To become free or to break loose
Example of a sentence: Dapat nating paalpasin ang mga nahuling pawikan sa kanilang natural na tahanan.
English Translation: We must release the caught turtles in their natural habitat.

Pahimakas
English translation: Last farewell
Definition: (noun) A statement where a person is about to say his/her final goodbye
Example of a sentence: Bago bumaba ang presidente sa kanyang posisyon dahil tapos na ang kanyang termino, siya ay nagpahayag ng kanyang pahimakas sa mga mamamayan ng Pilipinas.
English Translation: Before the president stepped down from his position because his term was over, he expressed his final farewell to the people of the Philippines.
Takipsilim
English translation: Twilight or Dusk
Definition: (noun) The time after sunset or when it starts to get dark
Example of a sentence: Dapat ay nasa bahay na ako bago dumating ang takipsilim dahil kung hindi ay hahanapin na ako ng aking Ina.
English Translation: I should be home before dusk or else my mother would start to find me.
Silakbo
English translation: Emotional Outburst
Definition: (noun) A sudden, or often intense expression of emotion or gesture.
Example of a sentence: Hindi ko kayang maitago ang silakbo ng aking nararamdaman kapag kasama ko ang taong muntik nang nakapatay sa akin.
English Translation: I cannot hide the emotional outburst of what I feel if I am with the person that almost killed me.
Sapantaha
English translation: A hunch or presumption
Definition: (noun) It is an another term for inference, doubt, prediction, worry and suspicion
Example of a sentence: Hindi ko maiwasan magkaroon ng sapantaha laban sa ating mga kasama sa giyera .
English Translation: I can't avoid having suspicions against our comrades in the war.
Balintataw
English translation: The Pupil of an eye
Definition: (noun) The growing and shrinking opening of the inlaid of the eye and the passage of light towards the retina
Example of a sentence: Ang balintataw ay isa sa mga napakaimportanteng parte ng ating mga mata.
English Translation: The pupil is one of the most important parts of our eyes.
Marahuyo
English translation: To be Enchanted
Definition: (adjective) To be enchanted by a magic spell to attract and move deeply or rouse to ecstatic admiration.
Example of a sentence: Baka ako ay marahuyo dahil sa ganda ng iyong boses.
English Translations: You might enchant me because of that beautiful voice of yours.

Definition: (verb) the act of dancing in response to music
Example of a sentence: Ako ay palaging umiindak kapag naririnig ko ang tugtog ng aking paboritong kanta.
English Translations: I always start to dance when I hear my favorite song playing
